Thank you to everyone who came along to the first meeting in Dundee on 25th June. Thanks in particular to midwife Marion Sellar, who who works in Forth Park midwife-led unit in Kirkaldy for sharing her experiences of waterbith.
The presentation, which user representative Avril Nicoll gave, included pictures and stories of waterbirth in Montrose midwife-led unit and her contribution to the group was also greatly appreciated.
If anyone has any suggestions for future topics of discussion please feel free to e-mail me.
In the next few months we'll be covering:
June – Wed 25th - Waterbirth. A midwife with many years water birth experience will be coming along to discuss the pros and cons of labouring & giving birth in water.
July - Wed 23rd - On Holiday but:
- possiblility of a new live web chat (see below)
August - Wed 27th - Birth Plans
September - Wed 24th - Normal Birth

Welcome!
Birth Choices Dundee is a voluntary group run by Paula, a third year student midwife and a mother. We aim to provide a support network for pregnant women and their families. The group will usually meet on the last Wednesday of every month and we'll be discussing a host of topics such as normal birth, water birth, birth plans, caesarean birth, induction of labour, pain relief and place of birth.
Feel free to suggest any other pregnancy or childbirth related topics which you would like us to chat about. Please note that although we may help you with general issues relating to your maternity care, we can not offer clinical advice on an individual basis as we have not been involved in your care.
The group is FREE OF CHARGE, friendly, informal and all are welcome. Feel free to bring children along too!
